Search Engine Optimization
What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is a process to increase a website’s visibility via natural search results. It concerns how search engines like Yahoo or Google work and the keywords people search for. The ultimate goal of SEO to make the website more searchable.
How does SEO work?
By editing the content, HTML and associated coding of a website, we can increase its relevance to specific keywords, and also remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines.
Common misconception: Flash is not SEO friendly!
As Adobe Flash content had been unavailable to search engine indexing, most people think that flash is not SEO friendly. However AJAX is not superior to Flash in terms of quantity of natural search-driven traffic because by default most search engines ignore dynamic content. The key for successful SEO is to expose these ‘hidden’ content effectively with a well-designed structure. Furthermore, search engines such as Google and Yahoo have finally found their way to index Flash content. This means nowadays the same amount of effort on SEO is needed from developers, no matter what platform a website is built on.
